To those of you who are about to become members of society, I hope that all of you will make a great start to each morning by doing a resonant gongyo. May you all perform confidently and cheerfully on the stage where you have a unique mission to play and one that only you can fulfil!
Translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun, based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, with universal value and application
Let's have the type of conversations that blow a refreshing spring breeze through our friend’s hearts. To the extent we make an effort to try to inspire others, the stronger the life force we can bring forth from within ourselves. Let’s make every effort to develop an incredible boundless life condition!
Ensuring that the heritage of faith and practice is unwavering and transcends the generations will build a solid foundation for happiness for ten thousand years and more to come. By having open and frank conversations with our children and grandchildren, let's make their spring recesses meaningful ones.
The first step to developing trust with others is to give them a refreshing greeting. The key is to take the initiative in talking to them in a cheerful and friendly voice. Let's all advance with the vigour of the rising sun!
It’s a time for new beginnings and fresh departures. Let’s always enthusiastically cheer on and encourage those who are making a move, and, right from the heart, wish them all the very best! At the same time let’s warmly welcome those who are moving in!
Let’s treasure and respect the opinions of women who are firmly grounded in the realities of daily life! Their rich and bountiful wisdom contains the key to the progress and advancement of the family, the neighbourhood and society at large.
Instead of comparing ourselves with others let’s try to progress one step from who we were yesterday! By working on polishing our own lives let's build a solid and firmly rooted self!
Especially when we’re busy, let’s be sure to use our faith and practice as the way of focusing and by doing so, let’s courageously take on every challenge that confronts us. By showing our sincerity and integrity and by being patient, let’s become a reliable and trustworthy pillar and light in our workplace.
When one is at a crossroads in one’s life, those who have a starting point, a raison d’etre, for their dreams are strong. To all of my dear young friends, live out your lives to the full and fulfil the vow that you yourselves make in your youth. Let’s advance with the type of courage that can never be quashed or defeated!
As “leaders,” let’s all continue to make every effort to study the Writings of Nichiren Daishonin and SGI's guidance each and every day! Our own growth is the very driving force for the development of our organisation.
