The Daishonin teaches us, “From this single element of mind springs all the various lands and environmental conditions." The power to shine brightly in society lies within our own lives. Lets all work together to create an environment where we can live genuinely happy amongst each other.
Translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun, based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, with universal value and application
Let’s make every effort to move at lightening speed when it comes to reporting and communication! It’s the solid unity and momentum of our organisation that helps each member to cultivate and manifold their strengths many times over.
The solidarity and unity of the SGI women is like the sun that illuminates a society for peace. The Daishonin teaches, “The voice carries out the work of the Buddha." Shining with the Buddha’s blessings and wisdom and brimming with the confidence we have in this practice, let’s talk with as many people as possible, without hesitation, about this Buddhism and its philosophy!
To all of our young friends who will carry the next generation on their shoulders, may you all be at the very forefront of our movement establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land! By courageously speaking out with the spirit like that of a lion’s roar, let’s spread the solidarity for happiness, justice and truth as far and wide as we possibly can!
The more chances we have to meet with someone, the more meaningful our friendship becomes. The more we talk with our friends, the deeper the trust between us. Today also, let's put our faith into action!
No matter what the hardships or the sorrows that we may face they all serve as a catalyst and nourishment to help us develop an even higher state of life. Let’s decide "I'll definitely transform my karma!" Striving single-mindedly with this deep vow let’s adorn our lives with triumphant victory!
Never allow yourself to be defeated by illness! Nichiren Daishonin assures us: "What sickness can therefore be an obstacle?" Chant daimoku with the powerful inner resolve to refresh and renew every single cell in your body!
The Daishonin encourages us, “You have associated with a friend in the orchid room and have become as straight as mugwort growing among hemp.” By interacting with others we can help to refine and uplift one another. Let’s cultivate and spread great friendships and bonds by doing so.
The purpose of our practise of Buddhism is so that we can overcome that impulse to give up or to give in to cowardice. With solid resolute Daimoku as our base let’s break through the walls of obstacles that may be in our way, and emerge victorious!
A hundred years of practise in the Land of Perfect Bliss cannot compare to the benefits gained from one day’s selfless devotion that we make to achieve kosen-rufu. Let's, therefore, today again, put forth our very best effort to help as many people as possible to form a connection with Buddhism and expand the solidarity for the cause of justice and the truth, and by doing so accumulate immeasurable benefit!
