The important thing is faith directed toward realizing kosen-rufu. If we are striving wholeheartedly for kosen-rufu, we will have no time to quarrel. The Daishonin repeatedly admonishes against the folly of fellow practitioners squabbling in front of the enemy, comparing such behavior to the “sea bird and the clam,” who were both caught by the fisherman because they were preoccupied by arguing among themselves.
