On February 16, 2012, President Ikeda attended a meeting which was attended by Soka Gakkai leaders representatives commerating  790th anniversary of Nichiren Daishonin’s birth. Another such meeting led by President Harada was also held on the same day with representative from all over Japan.

During the meeting, Mr Harada explained that the three Soka Gakkai Presidents had lived their life in accordance with the true spirit and teaching of Nichiren Daishonin which was to awaken people to their Buddha nature. He shared that this was expressed in one of Nichiren’s most important Gosho “The Opening of the Eyes” which was written during the Sado exile. Even though Daishonin himself is in such harsh situation, he dedicated his entire life is to standing up against authoritarian, fighting against injustice and clarifying the essence of Buddhism.
