Let’s wholeheartedly encourage our friends struggling with an illness and their family members who are looking after them! As the Daishonin states, “Myo means to revive,” let’s try to chant daimoku with our friends with the unwavering conviction that we can absolutely defeat the illness. This is the faith that enables people to lead long and healthy lives!
Translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun, based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, with universal value and application
The daimoku that we chant for ourselves and others is the ultimate way for transference of merit for the deceased. "Sustained faith and practice enable us to know a deep and abiding joy in death as well as in life.” It's our lives that we devote to achieving kosen-rufu that generates a spring breeze of "eternity, happiness, true self, and purity"
Nothing great is achieved in just one single day. From what we are able to do right now, let’s continue to challenge (whatever it is we are challenging), one step at a time, never ever thinking of giving up! Then consequently a result is absolutely certain to follow.
To my dear young friends, try to do your very best to express your care, kindness and respect for your parents. With a heart of such appreciation, we can improve ourselves boundlessly! If we live out our lives by repaying our debts of gratitude there is no such thing as deadlock.
To the extent we take action and to the extent we engage people in conversation is the extent to which we can witness the limitless expansion of kosen-rufu. With the spirit in our faith and practice of "now more than ever" let' challenge new heights and set new personal records of success!
Let’s extend our warmest and most heartfelt support and encouragement to those who are moving on, or in, on account of gaining employment or starting a new school. Together, let’s warmly help them to settle into their new environment!
Faith is another name for unabated courage. Believing wholeheartedly that “I can change my present circumstances no matter what,” chanting and taking action with such conviction towards this goal, let’s live out the drama of transforming our karma and emerging as victors!
A truly genuine “leader” is a person who sincerely makes an effort to encourage others and courageously takes the initiative. Through striving to “make everyone feel pleased and happy” and “be the one who first of all takes action,” let’s try to serve as a beacon of trust for our fellow members.
So that we can become even bluer than indigo, let’s strive to advance now more than ever! This is the heart of the SGI. By carefully looking after our young kosen-rufu successors, let’s hold a truly dynamic and hope-filled discussion meeting!
Let’s live out our lives boldly and confidently! Developing our indomitable optimism is what “having faith" means. Decide “I’m going to do it, I’m going to succeed, no matter what!” and advance further, and then even further on!
