No matter how deep our karma might be it is certain that we can overcome it, that is the power and strength of the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin! By chanting with immovable conviction, let’s strive to achieve results with determined and focussed action!
Translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun, based on President Ikeda's recent guidance with universal value and application
To all of our Young Women’s Division members who are making a fresh new start full of hope, may you all be happily and cheerfully united like a ring of beautiful flowers. Please offer each other bright and warm words of encouragement just like sunlight! By accumulating “the treasures of the heart,” may you live your youthful days full of joy and fulfilment! In the dialogues we have with others, if we listen to what the other person has to say carefully, they will open up their hearts. By showing our honest concern and care about the things that worry or concern them and trying to understand their situations, let’s have the type of conversations that are full of sincerity and enthusiasm which will guide them to true happiness! Each and every day is a new start, a new endeavour, a new struggle towards new developments. Aiming towards accomplishing our goals and targets, let’s continue to unceasingly challenge ourselves! Let’s write our own golden history! Let's transform anxiety and despair into hope and courage. What will help our fellow members to change their inner resolve is wholehearted encouragement, brimming with strong life force. Let's all do our very best to offer one-on-one personal encouragement and guidance! The Daishonin states, “The wise will rejoice while the foolish will retreat.”* It’s when we hit a wall of obstacles that we have the great opportunity to grow. Having unyielding conviction in this point, let's stand up and courageously take on any challenge that we might be facing now! To all of our "Mamoru Kai" group members (volunteer cleaning groups for SGI community centres), we are all so grateful for your dedicated efforts to keep our “Kosen-rufu castles" so clean and tidy. When the weather gets hot, please take every possible measure to prevent from suffering from heat exhaustion or heatstroke, by constantly keeping yourselves hydrated, etc.. Please take good care of yourselves and stay healthy, first and foremost! To all of our Men’s Division members who are working so hard for the sake of their families and local community, thank you so much for your constant dedicated efforts! May you become golden pillars we are all so proud of challenging to fulfil your dreams, ideals and vows! A person who tries to introduce others to Nichiren Buddhism is indeed an emissary of the Buddha. Therefore, there is no need to feel afraid or be hesitant. As the Daishonin states, "But still I am not discouraged,"* let's share this Buddhism with as many people as we can, proudly and with confidence! The Daishonin teaches, "Trifling matters accumulate to become grave ones."* Even the smallest victories, when accumulated, open up a path to great joyful victories. Let’s advance, even if it is one step, or even just half a step. Let’s succeed in the challenges we face today! |
