Faith is about taking action. And action is the direct cause of victory and glory. Moving at a speed where we let no chance slip by us, let’s be constantly proactive, constantly taking the initiative! Let’s create value each and every day!
Translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun, based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, with universal value and application
What is it that we can we do for our friends, who are going through difficult times, to light a flame of hope? Let’s earnestly chant daimoku for them! Let’s do our very best to be the most sincere and warmhearted leaders we can who can empathise with each and every person’s pains and sufferings!
To those who are about to take an SGI Buddhist study exam, let’s be sure to warmly and wholeheartedly encourage them! The Daishonin encourages us, "You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others." Together, let’s endeavour in the two ways of practice and study!
Let’s always be on our guard especially when a strong typhoon or hurricane is approaching! Never underestimate the risks or consequences of weather conditions such as heavy rainfall, high waves, strong winds, etc. which might be well beyond our expectations. Our “usual prudence" is what really matters and our safety must always be our top priority. Let’s all try to stay accident free!
Our young people, who assume the responsibility of kosen-rufu, grow and develop especially through their actual practice. Let’s, therefore, chant daimoku, talk and take action together with them! Let’s take every possible opportunity to help raise our younger and newer members so that they will become even more capable than we are!
When we speak to our friends, sharing the philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism with them, both the speaker and listener are brilliantly adorned with boundless and immeasurable benefits. Let’s tirelessly devote ourselves to dialogue based on courage and sincerity to realise happiness for oneself and others!
Privately-owned activity centres of our organisation, are treasured castles of kosen-rufu in our local community. Whenever we attend meetings at such places, let’s be very careful about the neighbours, in particular about where we leave our bicycles and cars. Let’s also try to keep the loud conversations down on the streets nearby.
True prayer means that we make a vow. “I'm going to make this happen, no matter what!" Such unwavering determination becomes the beginning of the real drama of our human revolution. Let’s chant sonorous daimoku with firm strong conviction!
Here comes autumn, a time for fostering dedicated capable members for Kosen-rufu! Let’s wholeheartedly and sincerely support those who are challenging themselves in taking the annual Buddhist exams (on the philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism and background of the Soka Gakkai.) Through engraving the writings of Nichiren Daishonin deeply in our hearts with our fellow members, let’s refresh our determination and vow for kosen-rufu!
