Each of our noble members of the SGI who protect our community centres, the treasure castles of the community, thank you all so much for your sincere efforts in this past year! Unlimited good fortune shines brilliantly upon your devoted and wholehearted actions!
Translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun, based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, with universal value and application
A person who always tries to smile is strong. They are never defeated in times of hardship or difficulty. So today, too, let’s do our best to be cheerful! Let’s make every effort to be like the sun both at home and in our workplace.
Buddhism teaches the principle of "like the lotus flower in the water." Just like the lotus growing in the muddy swamp brings forth beautiful blossoms, let’s show actual proof of the true happiness that we can attain and the outstanding victories that we can achieve in the midst of the difficult and harsh realities of life! The essential foundation for doing so is chanting daimoku!
To our friends who are exerting themselves in preparing for upcoming exams, there is absolutely no doubt that every endeavour you are involved in now is laying the foundation for your victorious life. Let’s strive to win each and every day so as to welcome a spring full of joy and glory!
Let’s take the opportunity to give cheerful seasonal greetings that truly convey our warm wishes! The Daishonin teaches us, "The seeds of Buddhahood sprout as a result of conditions." Let’s take every chance we get to nurture good relations with our friends, neighbours and relatives, and help them to connect to Buddhism!
To those who live and work around us, and who have helped and supported us in various different ways in our daily lives, let’s, on a regular basis, be sure to express our appreciation! Such sincerity expressed in our attitude and behaviour makes the bonds of trust between us even stronger.
The Daishonin teaches us, “'Joy' means that oneself and others together experience joy." Praising each other’s dedicated efforts (throughout the year), let’s give a heartfelt round of applause to one another! Then boundless joy and happiness will unfold.
The key to developing talented capable individuals lies in making steady, sustained efforts! Let’s wholeheartedly believe in the brilliant potential of each person and continue to warmly encourage them! There is no need to rush or be anxious about seeing results. Instead, let’s make joyful, steady efforts!
The Daishonin states, "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the greatest of all joys." Daimoku is the source of hope. By chanting the Mystic Law ourselves and spreading hope to others teaching them to do the same, let’s have another day filled with creating value!
Let’s be on our guard in regard to fires in this dry season! Fires may be caused by leaving flammable things around, by allowing sockets to get covered in dust or plugging in too many things into one source! Let’s voice our concern for each other by reminding one another to be careful!
